Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg says he believes there is “no case” for a royal commission into Australia’s media diversity.
This comes as a Senate inquiry has handed down a report revealing its findings on the matter.
“The whole idea that you would have a royal commission into the private media in Australia where there is no case for doing so, I think is just is just Argentinian-style policy,” Senator Bragg told Sky News Australia.
He said this is coming from the same people who would not have an inquiry into the ABC’s complaints handling process.
“There’s no case for a structural review, like a royal commission, that I can see, in the 300-page report.”
