Former Victoria Liberal Party President Michael Kroger says the Greens should put up legislation on working out how to break up the power of the ABC, which is the most “prevalent source of information”.

A Senate report on media diversity calls for a judicial inquiry with the powers of a Royal Commission into private media.

“If the Greens want to have an inquiry into diversity and put some legislation up, they should put up legislation, working out how we can break up the power of the ABC,” Mr Kroger told Sky News Australia.

Mr Kroger said he thinks Opposition leader Anthony Albanese will not “grab this” because he will start a “fire storm of complaints”.
