The diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has become a “strong and united protest” against China’s human rights record in just three short days, according to Sky News host Chris Smith.

“Right on cue, the boycott ball keeps bouncing, with Canada and Britain, following the US and Australia,” Mr Smith said.

“The key to this is not disrupting the spirit of the Olympics, or the progress of the Games, as Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau explained; it’s about a deep concern for China’s behaviour.

“But the world can’t sit back and watch a superpower torture a minority … the way Beijing does the Uyghur people.”
