The ABC might find it “difficult or unhelpful to its narrative” but there are a lot of people in Victoria who are upset at the moment, according to Digital Editor Jack Houghton.
Last weekend large protests and some ugly scenes broke out in Victoria, where some protesters made threats against the Andrews government.
Mr Houghton said the Prime Minister “clearly condemned” the violent threats but noted the issue was “not black and white”.
“But at the ABC, the nuance of his words was lost on many journalists who lazily ran with comments twisting the Prime Minister’s words into somehow endorsing what the ABC described as dangerous voters,” he said.
“I know that the ABC likes to think of conservative voters as lacking intelligence but others characterising them as potentially dangerous is a new low.”
