There is “something wrong here” if Labor will put electoral legislation as their first order of business upon being elected, according to Minister Assisting the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ben Morton.

It comes as a proposed new voter ID law was introduced into parliament, which would require voters to provide valid identification before casting a vote at the ballot box during the federal election.

“This week, they have declared that if this bill passes … the first thing an Albanese government will do will be to repeal this legislation,” Mr Morton told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“The highest priority of an Albanese government, if they get elected, has got nothing to do with the economy, nothing to do with jobs and nothing to do with national security.”
