Sky News host Rita Panahi says the Australian Retailers Association has criticised the Andrews government over its lack of consultation when it comes to the COVID regulations it has imposed on the retail sector.
“The Australian Retailers Association, which represents the nation’s $320 billion retail sector has in an open letter attacked the Victorian government, accusing it of blindsiding the association in relation to last minute changes to staff vaccine rules,” Ms Panahi said.
“They also complained about contradictory advice and failure to consult with the retail community.”
Ms Panahi discussed the issue with the Australian Retailers Association’s CEO Paul Zahra.
“If there was consultation, we would have actually been able to discuss what best practice was,” he said.
“And clearly New South Wales has led the path here in clearly communicating and clearly consulting through the process and that’s made a big difference.”
“We do need to have a national alignment and we believe the NSW plan has been certainly the best that we’ve seen so far.”
