Liberal MP Tony Pasin says he hopes “civility can be returned” to the Solomon Islands after Australia will again intervene to provide security assistance.
It came at the request of Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare after days of rioting.
“My thoughts are with the people of the Solomon Islands as they have been for days now,” Mr Pasin told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
He said his thoughts are with the Australian Defence Force personnel and other personnel “who will answer the call” to assist.
“Let’s hope that civility can be returned, a sensible order can be returned to the Solomon Islands as quickly as possible, and let’s hope we’re not asked to be present in that country for as long as we were in the early 2000s.”
