Western Australia Deputy Premier Roger Cook has urged residents to get vaccinated as the state will face the “reality check” of COVID-19 when it reopens its borders.

“WA has had a remarkable run of COVID-free days in the community, we have been as safe as anywhere in the world,” Mr Cook said during a media conference on Wednesday.

However, he said this will come to an end.

“Soon we’ll be in a strange new situation of bringing COVID-19 into WA – it’s going to be a reality check for many people,” he said.

“Our focus between now and early next year has to be on getting as many people as possible vaccinated, and as soon as possible.”
