Liberal MP Dave Sharma says running against high profile independents in his blue ribbon seat of Wentworth isn’t a new feature in the political landscape.
This comes as Allegra Spender, the daughter of the late fashion designer Carla Zampatti, announced she will challenge Mr Sharma as an independent in the seat of Wentworth.
Ms Spender decided to run following Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s COP26 appearance.
“My record shows I’ve come into a government in 2019 and I’ve helped deliver a commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 which no one was even talking about three years ago,” Mr Sharma told Sky News Australia.
“I’ve run against independents, and strong and high profile independents, every time I’ve stood for election.
“So this isn’t a new feature on the Wentworth political landscape.”
