Liberal MP Trent Zimmerman says the government’s religious discrimination bill is important as it will make “a number of significant improvements”.

“I think the religious discrimination bill is an important bill because it is the missing part of our anti-discrimination laws and we do need to ensure that people aren’t discriminated against because of their faith, or lack of faith,” he told Sky News Australia.

He said the bill contains improvements he and others have been pushing for.

“And they are some really big improvements, so for example the removal of what was called the Folau clause, and also the removal of the provisions in relation to the health profession.

“So they are some really significant changes.”
