Liberal MP Jason Falinski says Australia’s housing affordability crisis is the result of a “moral failure” by state and local governments.

“The cause of this is government regulation gone amuck because Australia has enough land; we have some of the highest average wages in the world,” Mr Falinski told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“The most affordable place to buy a house should be Australia.

“Instead, Sydney is the third most unaffordable city in the world, Melbourne is sixth, Brisbane is 11th, Adelaide is 16th, Perth is the 23rd least affordable city in the world to buy a house.

“This is a moral failure by state and local governments, and it is time that they were held to account for this.”
