The Australian government has branded the entirety of Hezbollah as a terrorist organisation under the Australian Criminal Code.

Sky News Australia discussed the issue with head of the Intelligence and Security Committee who made the recommendation, Senator James Paterson.

Mr Paterson welcomed the decision by Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews who broadened the terror listing of Hezbollah from its external security organisation to cover the whole organisation.

“It’s a recommendation that the Committee made after receiving very clear evidence that Hezbollah is one organisation … run form the top by Hassan Nasrallah and the Shura Council – which overseas all of its activities – whether that’s civilian or political activities or military or terrorist activities,” Mr Paterson said.
