Christian Schools Australia’s Director of Public Policy Mark Spencer says welcomes the religious discrimination bill as it will enable protections for schools to hire staff with consistent values.

“What we’re talking about is … the final piece in the Commonwealth’s discrimination protections provision,” Mr Spencer told Sky News Australia.

He said it would “put in place a nationally consistent protection” for faith-based schools to ensure they can employ staff who share their faith and beliefs.

“It’s been a long-overdue protection, filling the gap for people of faith to make sure that they’re protected from discrimination on the basis of their belief,” he said.
