Liberal Senator Alex Antic says he voted for One Nation’s anti-COVID vaccination mandate bill because “there isn’t another alternative on the table”.

Mr Antic said the One Nation bill was “a bit rough around the edges”.

“But it did what it did, which was to provide some form of protection for people from discrimination,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“The intention was right, I was quite happy to support that piece of legislation, in my perfect world I would have liked to see the government support that or something different, but it didn’t happen so we threw the support behind One Nation’s bill.”

One Nation’s bill was rejected in the Senate, however five Coalition Senators crossed the floor to support it.
