There have been emotional scenes at Adelaide Airport after South Australia reopened its border to New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT.

South Australia is the first COVID-free jurisdiction to resume travel with areas living with community transmission.

Friends and families have made tearful reunions as the first flights arrived this morning.

All travellers must be fully vaccinated and may be subject to further testing requirements, depending on the local government area they are coming from.

Currently, 77.4 per cent of South Australians are double dosed – meaning border rules have eased early as the state prepares to reach its 80 per cent fully vaccinated target.
