Chief Minister Michael Gunner says the Northern Territory has recorded three new cases of COVID-19.

Of the new cases, two are local and one is from an international repatriation flight.

Mr Gunner said it is highly likely there are more positive cases in the Katherine area.

More than 1,170 tests were conducted in the area.
