Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells says Labor states are deliberately “running a campaign” on vaccine mandates.
“And that campaign, I think will go all the way to the federal election,” Ms Fierravanti-Wells said.
The Liberal senator was one of five senators who crossed the floor to support Senator Pauline Hanson’s anti-vaccine mandate bill on Monday.
Ms Wells said while she was pro-vaccination, she was concerned vaccine mandates don’t allow people a “choice”.
“I have to say, I have been consistent in expressing my concerns in relation to vaccine mandates and also vaccine passports,” she said.
“The Australian Immunisation Handbook makes it very, very clear that vaccination has to be voluntary.”
