Sky News host Cory Bernardi says the number of trade apprenticeships reaching an all-time high seems like a “homegrown solution” to the nation’s skills crisis.

“The number of trade apprenticeships in Australia has reached an all-time high, jumping to 217,000,” Mr Bernardi said.

“Now this has been described today as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to trade up Aussie workers to fill up gaps caused by border closures.

“It seems like a homegrown solution to our national skills crisis.”
