The price of basic goods in the United States has risen sharply with analysts blaming the hike on inflation and supply chain issues which have placed extra pressure on American families ahead of the holiday season.

With winter fast approaching, energy providers across the country are warning power bills could double.

It comes as America deals with rising inflation with prices on food, energy, petrol and cars rose on average by 0.9 per cent in October, a year-on-year increase of 6.2 per cent.
