Australia’s unemployment rate has risen by 0.6 per cent in the month of October, according to Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.

Mr Greenwood said the number was an “aberration in some ways” as it was thought as Australia reopens and lockdowns end, the unemployment rate would lower further.

He said more people were trying to find work, boosting the participation rate even though they could not get a job.

The October unemployment figures show there were 46,000 jobs lost in October, the participation rate rose 0.2 per cent to 64.7 per cent, and there were one million less hours worked.
