New antiviral drugs could signal “the end” of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
The federal government has procured several antivirals for use against COVID-19, which would bolster the vaccination program already in place.
“They have shown in clinical trials to be 50 to 89 per cent, depending on which one they are,” Mr Clennell said.
“Surely, we’re in a hell of a lot better position, and it’s an end to lockdowns and all those other things.
“There’s a lot of optimism at the federal government end on this, and in the medical community, that these antivirals … are the silver bullet on this.”
