Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman says if the Coalition really want to go net zero – which he disagrees with – they should back nuclear power.
The government announced its net zero by 2050 at the COP26 summit in Glasgow, with Energy Minister Angus Taylor dubbing it a “conservative approach”.
“I don’t agree that it’s a conservative approach,” Mr Newman told Sky News Australia.
“A conservative government would unshackle the electricity supply industry, the energy industry and take away a whole lot of things.
“And let the free market decide.”
