New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet says the WestConnex tunnel, which will connect the Blue Mountains to Sydney’s CBD, is a “gamechanger” for New South Wales.
“This is a gamechanger for our city and state, and as (Transurban CEO) Scott Charlton spoke about, he used the word vision, and that’s exactly what this announcement today and this progress today is,” he said.
Mr Perrottet said the tunnel had been spoken about and planned for many years, but “Sydney and New South Wales stood still” in need of new infrastructure.
He said there would be a $108 billion investment into infrastructure, which is “not just driving economic growth and job growth” but Sydneysiders’ day to day lives.
“This is a breakthrough of a tunnel, but it’s a massive breakthrough for Greater Sydney,” he said.
