Prime Minister Scott Morrison will begin a week-long campaign through Victoria and New South Wales to try and reconnect with voters after months of lockdowns.

Mr Morrison will visit communities in both states as he tries to switch his focus to domestic issues and put the French submarine fallout behind him.

Economic recovery from the pandemic will lead the campaign while the prime minister will also utilise visits to coal seats to pitch energy investment announcements.

A federal election is expected to be called for March or May next year and the Coalition’s primary vote is currently sitting at its lowest point since December 2018.
