Vacancies in Australia’s hospitality industry are likely to surpass 100,000 within two weeks as the worker shortage crisis escalates.

Job openings increased from 84,000 to 93,000 in the past week alone as the industry prepares for summer trade.

Most sought after applicants are baristas, waitstaff, managers and chefs.

The industry is renewing calls for the government to open the border to backpackers, international students and skilled migrants.
