Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says the diplomatic spat between the French and the Morrison government comes down to “trust” and “character issues” which have been laid at the feet of the Prime Minister by the French.

When asked about the stoush between himself and several high-profile members of the French government, Mr Morrison said everyone needed to “move on”.

Mr Clennell mentioned there was an additional issue as “the US were quite concerned about how this was handled, at least Joe Biden was saying so as well.”

The Prime Minister obviously made “the domestic political consideration that most people won’t really care about the French, they’ll figure the submarine contract was pretty dud anyway,” Mr Clennell said.
