The diplomatic row over Australia’s submarine deal will take another turn today, with the French ambassador due to speak in Canberra.
Jean-Pierre Thebault will have centre stage when he addresses the National Press Club for a full hour.
It is expected he will explain how France plans to redefine its relationship with Australia, which has grown more unstable in the past 48 hours.
The ambassador confirmed that he would speak as far back as October 11.
When he was recalled from the position in September, he accused Australia of keeping France in the dark and said it abused the relationship between the two nations.
