Queensland Editor Peter Gleeson says many Queenslanders will give former chief health officer Jeannette Young a “big tick for her tenure”.

“Just goes to show, doesn’t it? It’s not what you know but it’s who you know in this particular instance,” Mr Gleeson told Sky News Australia.

“But look a lot of people will give Jeannette Young a big tick for her tenure as the chief medical officer because she kept the virus out.

“And, of course, if you look at the fatality rate here in Queensland, just seven people have died from COVID; now that’s an extraordinary statistic when you compare it with the rest of the world.

“So, a lot of people will look upon her tenure as being pretty solid.”
