NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns has called on the state government to open up the regions to the unvaccinated once the 95 per cent inoculation target is reached.

“It’s the best way of protecting our public hospital system at a crucial point – we do not want out public hospitals overrun and at the same time we want to make sure that our regional communities and metropolitan Sydney economy springs back to life,” he said.

“The best way of doing that is to ensure that those people who’ve been vaccinated can travel to the regions and those who haven’t been vaccinated will have to wait until we hit that 95 per cent figure.”

“it’s not to be done in a penury way to punish anybody – it’s to protect our public hospital system.”
