The Service NSW app may soon send direct notifications to peoples’ smartphones, alerting them to potential COVID-19 cases in places they previously checked into.
NSW Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello discussed the app with Sky News Australia.
“You’ll get a push notification and it’ll simply say, ‘check for symptoms’, and you’ll be called directly from Health in the event that you’re deemed a close contact,” he said.
“The app has been world-leading … nowhere else in Australia have we had the functionality that we’ve got here.
“What we’ve done with Service NSW is not just transform the app, transform the way we deliver services in New South Wales, and it’s the envy of the world.”
He said the app’s new function is likely to be ready within days, but is subject to when Health is ready to sign off on it.
