Queensland Nationals candidate Colin Boyce says people need to “take a breath” and understand that the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister are doing their “level best to put Australia in the best possible position”.
It comes as the Coalition has faced significant criticism after making an agreement on net zero emissions by 2050.
“All of these agreements are not to be legislated,” Mr Boyce told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“Australia wants to be flexible into the future so that we can manage our own destiny.
“If things aren’t working for us, we’ve got the flexibility to change them.”
