The TGA has approved Pfizer booster shots for those aged 18 and over and will be administered six months after the second jab.

Health Minister Greg Hunt says Australia has “adequate doses” of Pfizer in the country as of currently, enough to provide booster shots to every Australian who wants one.

“We’re very well prepared; we have adequate doses in the country now to make sure that every Australian who wants to be vaccinated with first or second doses can achieve that,” Mr Hunt told Sky News Australia.

“We have strong supplies through the coming months and we’re in a position to just keep the program going.

“So, those from November 8 will have been six months since their second dose will be eligible for a booster shot.”

Mr Hunt said “everything from here on in” Australia will be sharing vaccine stock with the Asia Pacific to aid in the vaccine rollout in other countries lagging in their rates of getting jabs into arms.
