Joe Biden has told a classroom of children in New Jersey that the media is with him “all the time” and in his role as president he has to figure out how he can “avoid answering” their questions.

“You got to talk to me about the presidency, you know when you’re president – you see all these people here, they are with you all the time,” Mr Biden said about the media.

“They get to ask you all kinds of questions and you try to figure out how you can avoid answering them sometimes.”

The President has been heavily criticised for avoiding the media and for not taking reporters’ questions during his nine months in office.

“It’s been 64 days since Biden has done an interview. Americans deserve a president who isn’t MIA as he creates crisis after crisis,” GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted.

Last month the press corps filed a formal objection with the White House over President Biden’s refusal to take their questions.
