Mackay Hospital and Health Service’s Julie Rampton says there will be an increased focus on pop-up vaccination clinics within the area.
It comes as many Bunnings stores across Queensland have opened pop-up clinics.
“The numbers are increasing, in the last week we’ve actually seen them start to come up, but we’re actually focusing on more and more pop-up clinics which seem to be very popular,” Ms Rampton told Sky News Australia.
“I think people still go to their GPs, but we try and target areas where we know there’ll be groups of people, and then it’s handy for them.”
She said the purpose of pop-up clinics at Bunnings stores is to primarily target tradies and renovators.
“We know that people go there on the weekends and it’s actually proved to be really successful.”
