Unvaccinated essential workers in Victoria will be denied entry to workplaces as one of the world’s strictest vaccine mandates come into effect on Friday.

Close to one million employees will have to show proof they’ve had at least one COVID vaccine or have been booked in for an appointment before October 22.

Businesses risk fines of up to $100,000 if they let unvaccinated workers on site.

The Victorian government announced the mandate earlier this month after similar measures were imposed in New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
