The 90-year-old was overcome with emotion after he touched down on Earth, saying his trip to space was the “most profound experience”.
“What you have given me, is the most profound experience I could have imagined,” Shatner told Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos.
“I’m so filled with emotion about what happened, it’s extraordinary.”

Shatner, who is known for his role as Captain James T Kirk in Star Trek, officially became the oldest person to enter space, over 50 years after he first depicted space travel in the famous sci-fi television series.
Travelling alongside Shatner was Australian Planet Labs co-founder Dr Chris Boshuizen – who became just the third Australian to enter space, Blue Origin executive Audrey Powers and co-founder of Medidata Solutions Glen De Vries.
Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft took off around 1:45am with the crew inside the 18.3 metre spacecraft travelling 100 kilometres above the Earth’s surface where they enjoyed approximately four minutes of weightlessness before returning safely to Earth roughly 10 minutes after takeoff.

Mr Bezos greeted the crew who were showered with applause and champagne as the shuttle landed in the Texas desert.
Shatner said the trip opened his eyes to the reality of space, adding it was something everyone should experience.
“Everybody in the world needs to do this. Everybody in the world needs to see,” he said.
“To see the blue colour whip by and now you’re staring into blackness, that’s the thing.

“The covering of blue, this sheath, this blanket, this comforter of blue that we have around, we say, ‘Oh, that’s blue sky’ and then suddenly you shoot through it all, and you’re looking into blackness, into black ugliness.”
The flight was the second time Blue Origin has sent a rocket into space Mr Bezos entered space in July.
During the July trip, Wally Funk, 82, became the oldest person to travel into space at the time.
