Sky News host Cory Bernardi says Australia is at risk of being “trapped in a net that’s going to do us enormous economic damage” as discussion of net-zero continues with the COP26 conference in Glasgow coming up next month.

Only three weeks out from the Glasgow Climate Summit the President of the United Nations Climate Change Conference Alok Sharma has said COP26 can’t be treated as a “photo op or a talking shot”.

Mr Sharma told G20 countries, including China, Russia and Australia, to “step up” on their emissions pledge ahead of the COP26 conference.

“He should go straight to the pool room and be told that he’s dreaming…because nothing is going to come out of this; they continue to fail,” Mr Bernardi told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“Not one of the politicians in attendance will be in office by the time they’re expected to deliver on this; it’s just more jawboning, more virtue signalling.”
