Two Victorian men, who breached Western Australia’s strict border rules to attend the AFL Grand Final, have been sentenced to three months in jail.
The pair falsified bank statements and drivers licence documents to enter the state as spectators of the game’s showpiece at Optus Stadium last month.
They originally flew to Darwin from Melbourne, but didn’t declare on their application that they’d been in Victoria.
The pair were also given a seven month suspended sentence.
The sentence will also be backdated to the time the men were arrested, and will be eligible for release at the end of December.
