Australian Industry Group Chief Executive Innes Willox says everyone is talking about net zero by 2050 now as a result of “pressure”.

“Net zero by 2050 doesn’t mean that it all has to happen at once and has to happen in an uncoordinated way across all different parts of the economy,” Mr Willox told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“Why is everyone talking about it now? It’s because of pressure; pressure, whether we like it or not, internationally from other governments, other continents.

“Business itself is looking to see how it can contribute, largely because of the pressures from investors, from their staff, from customers, from their supply chain.

“Now this is not going to be easy, it’s not going to be done overnight but more and more that’s where the trend line is.”
