Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says the tentacles of IBAC have spread further to Richard Marles.
“The deputy federal Labor leader, attended a fundraiser in 2016 where IBAC witness Anthony Byrne said that the money raised was used to pay for party memberships and branch stacks,” Mr Clennell said.
“Byrne spoke in his evidence of the fact that he believed that people attending fundraisers knew that the money raised there was for branch stacks.
“A spokeswoman for Richard Marles has told me that Mr Marles had ‘absolutely no knowledge of anything to do with the funds raised at that event’.
“Other frontbenchers like Bill Shorten, Tony Burke and Chris Bowen have headlined similar events.”
