The entire neonatal intensive care unit of Melbourne’s Royal Children Hospital is in isolation after an unknowingly COVID-positive parent visited the facility.

29 critically ill infants have been categorised as tier one and tier two close contacts after being exposed to the virus.

A string of parents have tested positive for COVID-19 after spending time in wards at the Royal Children’s Hospital over the past two weeks.

All parents and carers that visit the hospital must undergo a rapid antigen test and return a negative result before being allowed to enter.
