Spiked Chief Political Writer Brendan O’Neill says the Prince Andrew sexual assault case highlights the “rush to judgement that is made in the Me Too era”.
It comes after London’s Met Police dropped an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Prince Andrew which he had categorically denied.
Mr O’Neill said while Royals are not above the law, many in the United Kingdom had rushed to the assumption the Prince Andrew was guilty.
“There’s been lots of discussion here in the UK about why aren’t we talking about the ‘sex offender Prince Andrew’ and you think hold on, these are allegations,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“These are not things which have been proven in a court of law beyond reasonable doubt.
“I think we have to give everybody the benefit of the doubt, including Prince Andrew.”
