Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon says he thinks net zero by 2050 is a “reasonable ambition” despite it being unknown how much it will cost.

“Certainly it will take a big upgrade to the electricity grid to get more renewables into the system, a very expensive upgrade,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“I think we can get there along the technology path.

“Until we know how quickly those technologies will come online, we can’t possibly know what the cost is.”
