Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce’s support is “key” to Prime Minister Scott Morrison reaching a deal with the Nationals on net zero before the COP26 conference in Glasgow.

“This may be a deal that will get through, that if Michael McCormack was leader wouldn’t have happened, because Barnaby would have picked it up and used it for a leadership tilt,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“So that’s the irony of it, Barnaby Joyce who’s probably less in favour of a net zero policy is the key to Scott Morrison getting this through.”
