Victoria Racing Club’s Chairman Neil Wilson says “segmented ticketing” is under consideration for the Melbourne Cup this year, which is allowed 10,000 fans to attend.
Victoria Racing Club has some 30,000 members – the largest member-based racing club around the world.
“So, we do need to look after them, and make that we get as many as we possibly can in,” Mr Wilson said.
There will be “extra room” at some other events in the racing carnival, including Oaks Day.
Mr Wilson also confirmed there would be no Birdcage at the Cup this year, with a “different format in that area” instead.
