Owner of Kwik Copy Phillip Joel says the government has “failed small businesses” during NSW’s lockdown after only receiving a minimal amount of money to stay afloat.

“We’ve all suffered, small businesses have taken a big pounding, in the city especially,” Mr Joel told Sky News Australia.

“The problem is the government has let us do this all on our own, they’ve provided very little stimulus support, and we as small businesses can’t continue going down that road.

“We don’t have access unlimited funds, we’re all taking money out of our mortgages, we’ve extended our credits, our credit cards are maxed out and if things don’t improve significantly, we’re all going to go to the wall.

Mr Joel said the financial support given was only 30 per cent of what was needed with 70 per cent short.

“The money that they gave, as far as the disaster payments to staff, was actually a disaster for business in itself because it disconnected you completely from your staff members.”
