NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole says residents have been given every opportunity to come forward and get vaccinated – but the reality is “we can’t sit back forever – we have to open up”.
It comes as the first stage of NSW’s reopening plan commences today with easing of restrictions for the vaccinated amid reaching 70 per cent double dose.
“We can’t sit back any longer and tell people we’re going to go on for another couple of months – this is impacting on people’s mental health,” he told Sky News Australia.
“We have to open up; we’ve got to get back out there.
“Businesses have tapped into their reserves – they’re struggling, they’re doing it tough, and the only way they’re going to survive is actually opening up their doors and getting customers back into their business to actually have a trade.”
