Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley says mRNA will be available through state clinics to everyone, not just those under 60.
It comes as the state recorded 1,612 new COVID-19 infections on Monday and 677 in hospital with the virus, 133 of those patients are in intensive care, and 94 in ICU on ventilators.
“Today we are just confirming that mRNA vaccines, Moderna and Pfizer, will be available to people of any age, through our state-run vaccination centres, not just those under 60.
“As we push to 70 and 80 per cent double dose and beyond, it’s time to throw open the doors of all of our clinics, more than 60 of them across the state, to the mRNA vaccines, particularly Moderna and Pfizer, for all comers.
“Victorians 60 and over can now book to receive Pfizer or Moderna at any one of Victoria’s centres right across the state, more than 60 of them and there is no reason not to.”
