Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Andrew McKellar says many businesses are in a position to “bounce back” after lockdown.

“I think we’ve got be as optimistic as we can be, on all the evidence that we have seen, the severity of the economic impact this time around has not been as bad as it was in the initial wave of the pandemic,” Mr McKellar told Sky News Australia.

“I do think many businesses are in a position to bounce back but we’ve got to get the economy open and so look the longer it goes where those restrictions are in place, the greater risk that more businesses will fail.

“We have some optimism that if we can get things open again and if we can things moving then a lot of businesses are prime to bounce back relatively quickly.”
