Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says he is “fighting” for the “average Australian worker”.
“I’m not lining up with the global banks, I’m not lining up with big business,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia.
“I’m lining up with the average Australian worker in this country who wants their job protected.”
Mr Canavan also said the “Nationals Party have always been against net-zero”.
“As I said earlier, I don’t think it’s tenable that we, as a Coalition, adopt a net-zero emissions target when we, like the Business Council, said only two years ago that a net-zero emissions target by 2050 would be a wreaking ball through the Australian economy.”
